Olympic Fever

Hi All,

I've already let Carolyn know, but just to say thanks for my first issue of Eve which finally showed up on Thursday. We've had a lovely afternoon out skiing in the woods behind the house and down to the golf course. In the winter the driving range is used for sledging and kids build various, highly dangerous ski jumps which Callum has been trying out this afternoon. The boy has no fear and no idea of his lack of ability when it comes to stopping and turning. That aside, put him at the top of a hill and he'll whoosh straight to the bottom without stopping, the faster the better. Am pleased to say his sister is keen on learning some of the refinements of skiing and is practising her parallel turns - not so easy on cross country skis. I have to say, I think we were about as good as the Norwegian men and women's relay teams!! The Olympics is on TV here constantly - got to cheer on Finlay Mickel yesterday and that mad woman that won a medal in the skeleton bob thing. TV is not a strong point here (to prove it, there's a Charlie Chaplin film on at the mo)but they are running the last season of ER at the moment and the new season of Desparate Housewives got underway just after Christmas. I'm enjoying as much as the last one.

Did everyone get Sharron's email? I can't imagine how different life must be out there. Sophie had a mail from Matthew - he said he's enjoying himself but the food's too spicy!

Had an Amazon order delivered this week. Thought I'd made a cunning purchase of some DVD's on sale and a CD for Sophie and a book I wanted. Delivery of £6 wan't too bad, hadn't counted on customs and VAT charges this end of £15. Won't be doing that again!

I will have to ask Carolyn to whip everyone soundly as the post's have been a bit thin on the ground. Are you all busy or something?? I feel that I'm currently living the life of a 70 year old, retired woman!! On that note, it must be time for a G&T (yes, we're back in stock). Christian went out yesterday and bought a bottle of gin (75cl), 2 bottles of wine and a box of wine - £100 later, aaaaaahhh. Oh for a case of Cuvee Richard. To add insult to injury, we are still on Majestics mailing list and their new brochure was forwarded to us this week. Better make that a double then...

Kirsty
xx

Oh, I'm so glad Eve turned up at last - fingers crossed that it arrives next month and that their mailing system is finally sorted.

I've not been watching much of the Olympics (particularly as all they seem to be showing when I'm available to watch is Curling), but I have caught some of the Ice Dancing, and am intrigued by the strange case of the Austrian ex-coach with all the blood transfusion gear who crashed into a couple of police cars.
